THE CURIOUS SAVAGE

November 2nd at 3pm & November 3rd at 7pm at The Kathryn Randolph Theater 

 

Performances:

January 24-26, January 31- February 2

This production is directed by Teri Sturdyvin

The audition will consist of reading from sides (portions of the script).

 

Red Mask Players will hold open auditions for "The Curious Savage" by John Patrick. All are welcome and newcomers are encouraged!


This play is a charming, comedy that has become a classic in community theater. Lots of good parts in this show!


Synopsis of the Play:
Mrs. Savage is a rich widow who has been committed to The Cloisters, a sanitarium, by her stepchildren in an attempt to gain control of her fortune. At the Cloisters, she finds happiness with the quirky, damaged residents. Mrs. Savage leads her stepchildren on a merry treasure hunt and with the help of her new friends, is enabled to carry out her plans to establish a fund to help others realize their hopes and dreams.


Roles:


The Guests:
Florence- a young mother, gentle, eager to please
Hannibal- former statistician, aspiring violinist, plump,cherubic
Fairy May - early twenties, beautiful, pale, slender, a happy nature. Severe hair, boring dress, glasses. Prone to fanciful invention.
Jeffrey - mid-twenties, handsome, has a "scarred" face
Mrs. Paddy - a dumpy middle-aged woman of awesome ferocity, Will only recite the things she hates.


The Family:
Ethel Savage - at least 60 but difficult to guess her age, appears fragile, has dyed her hair blue, youthful in dress, has a constant half-smile,
Titus - a Senator, well-dressed, cold, humorless, direct
Samuel - Judge, short, undistinguished
Lily Belle - willowy, chic, brittle, self-assured, approaching 40


The Staff:
Miss Wilhelmina - mid-twenties, efficient, attractive
Dr. Emmett - typical doctor, caring, sense of humor
