AuditionsAuditions for upcoming adult shows are usually held the first two nights after the previous show ends (or shortly after Labor Day for the first show of the season).  Audition dates and times are posted on our Current Season and Home pages.  Auditioners read from the play script instead of performing a prepared monologue.

If the Director determines that two nights of auditions have not resulted in a cast that meets the needs of the production, a third audition will be announced and held within three days.  The time and date will be posted on this site and our Facebook page.  Those who auditioned the first two nights are welcome to attend the third audition as well, as they may be asked to participate.

Copies of scripts from the current season are available (for in-library reading only) at the Danville Public Library.  Everyone who is cast in a show is required to purchase a season membership.

Information on auditioning for children's shows is found on our Children's Theater page.

Directing at Red MaskEach year, the Red Mask Board of Directors accepts director applications for the forthcoming season.

The deadline for applications for the 2017-18 season has been extended to May 1, 2017.  Applicants must download and complete an application (below) describing their production plans.  Applicants are interviewed by the Board during summer.  Applications should be mailed to: Red Mask Players, P.O. Box 814, Danville, IL 61834-0814.  Please do not email applications.  Scripts for the forthcoming season are available for in-library reading at the Danville Public Library.

  • Red Mask Director Application (PDF).  The total document runs 12 pages -- 5 pages for the application itself and 7 pages for the Director, Producer, and Stage Manager job descriptions.  Please submit the completed application portion and retain the job descriptions for your reference.

Contact us (redmaskplayers@hotmail.com) with questions about the application process.

Helping behind the scenesWe're always looking for help behind the scenes -- building sets, working box office, ushering, running lights and sound, and more.

To get involved on a show, please talk to the director at auditions, or contact us soon after rehearsals begin.

Season MembershipsSeason memberships are a great way to support Red Mask and save money at the same time -- tickets are cheaper than if purchased per show.

Season Memberships to adult shows are $40 for adults, $35 for seniors age 60+, $35 for students, and $210 for groups (6 tickets per show, and your name will be listed in the program).  To purchase a season membership, print, complete and mail the form below along with payment.  Season Memberships may also be purchased at the box office before each performance.

Season members are eligible to vote for Board Members and receive Asides, our newsletter.

One-ActsRed Mask occasionally offers a summer season of original one-acts.  A contest is held in the months before to select the plays.

The contest is open to high school students through adult writers.  Only unpublished, original plays are considered, and all scripts must be typed.  Plays are judged on originality, quality of writing and adaptability for the Red Mask stage.  Red Mask reserves the right to edit for gratuitous sex, violence or language.  Manuscripts will be returned to the writer if accompanied by self-addressed, stamped envelope.  Red Mask Players claim exclusive rights to the plays for the rehearsal and performance period, after which rights revert to the author.  Winning authors will be furnished with a video of the production.
